Matt Doran

Player Development Coach & Mentor

Matthew Doran, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, had a distinguished career in junior hockey, spanning four years with three seasons in the NAHL and one season in the BCHL. Commencing his collegiate journey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks for his freshman year, he later transferred to SUNY Geneseo, where he completed four years, balancing academics, hockey, and earning a bachelor’s degree in Communication.

During his tenure at Geneseo, Matthew achieved significant accolades, including winning two conference championships, earning dual selections to all-conference teams, finishing as a runner-up in the National Championship, and being honored with a place on the National Championship all-tournament team. Transitioning to the professional arena post-college, he competed for the Wichita Thunder in the ECHL and spent a season with the Huntsville Havoc in the SPHL, where he stood out as a member of the All-SPHL Rookie team.

Matt is excited to bring his knowledge of the game into the development of all the athletes that walk into the building.  Matt will be running on-ice clinics and on-ice lessons throughout the week.

  • On-Ice Method Group Staff Lessons (Semi Private up to 12 kids)
  • On-Ice Instruction offers players hockey-specific on-ice instruction in groups of up to 12 kids in our most customized training setting, one where the player's needs, wants, and desires guides the objectives of the session. Here, the drills, situations, and simulations designed are a joint player-coach effort, as instructor, player and family collaborate to build an on-ice plan that assists in achieving very specific hockey outcomes.

  • Passing & Shooting On-Clinic (12 and Under)
  • This skill-focused clinic is designed to sharpen two of the most essential components of offensive play: passing precision and shooting accuracy. Athletes will work through a series of high-repetition, game-realistic drills that emphasize quick decision-making, puck control, and scoring execution.

Players will learn to improve their passing techniques (forehand, backhand, saucer, area passes), and develop better on-ice awareness to create scoring opportunities. Shooting drills will focus on proper mechanics, release quickness, shot placement, and generating power through dynamic movement
