Frequently Asked Questions

Does signing up for a tryout guarantee I will have a spot on the summer team?

We will do our best to try and place every player that attends a tryout on a team.  If we have enough interest we will add a second team at each level to accommodate players.  The goal of the summer teams is to train together to improve your skills.  That primarily happens in our on-ice sessions and off-ice strength training.  We will be competitive and try to win the tournament weekends but we will also try to have fun doing it!

Can I get a partial refund if I can only attend some practices or 1 tournament weekend?

Due to the fact that our expenses are fixed (cost of ice, cost of tournament and cost to pay coaching staff) the costs are spread evenly over each roster spot on the team.  If you are chosen for a team and elect to take a roster spot we ask that you pay in full and take into consideration the timing of the events to determine if you would like to play.  We can not offer partial refunds if you are unable to make some practices or a tournament.

What if I can't attend a tryout date, can I still be considered for a summer team?

Yes, please sign up for a tryout date so we know you are interested.  Then email us at info@methodicehockey.com and we will find a time that you can attend an on-ice clinic in January where our coaches can see you play.  Teams will be chosen shortly after the tryouts so please let us know before the tryout dates if you can not attend but are still interested in playing on one of our summer teams.

Why are some team tryouts listed as invite only (Boys 2012, & 2013-2014)?

Method Hockey does not want to compete with our Ice Line in house summer tournament teams (Wolverines).  Our tournament dates and practice and training dates will intentionally be different from Wolverines so that players can do both if they choose to.  Therefore, we ask that you request an invite by emailing us at info@methodicehockey.com for one of the invite teams.  The tryouts are still open to anyone who requests an invite.

When will practices and off-ice training be?

Both practices and off-ice training sessions will be held the 2 weeks prior to the scheduled tournament dates twice per week.  The on-ice session and off-ice session will be held the same night. Practices will typically be in the evening and will be sent out about a month ahead of time once we have the ice reserved for our practice slots.

Will you require us to stay in a team hotel?

Most families will commute to the local tournaments (Hershey and Hollydale).  For the one tournament each team has that is farther away we do not require that you stay at a team hotel.  We will be releasing a full roster when we set teams and if parents want to coordinate staying together at a specific hotel they can do that then.
